U.S. ARMY/A.P.O. 862 APR 9/1951 machine ties USA #C39 to air mail cover to USA; and U.S. ARMY-AIR FORCE/POSTAL SERVICE MAY 11/1958/APO-862 machine ties USA #1035 to cover to Qualicum Beach, BC. APO 862 was located at Pepperrell AFB, St. John's, Nfld. 1951 cover is slightly cut down at top left.

Has 'Byrd Antarctic Expedition II' cachet on back, and 'LITTLE AMERICA/MAIL RECEIVED' machine slogan b/s applied in San Francisco. Centre fold, but early Antarctica mail to Canada is scarce!
